PSLV-C45/ EMISAT MISSION – ISRO
India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is all set to achieve a new feat by launching the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) C45 on April 1 from the Satish Dhawan Space Center, Sriharikota. As this will be the first mission from the Indian space agency which will put satellites in three different orbits.The most important payload of the PSLV-C 45 rocket will be the electronic intelligence satellite EMISAT which will help the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in military’s research and development.
Features: Weighing about 436 kg, EMISAT based on ISRO’s Indian Mini Satellite -2 (IMS-2) bus platform. The satellite is intended for electromagnetic spectrum measurement.
Uniqueness of the project : The specialty of this mission is that for the first time PSLV will launch satellites in Three different orbits. Another distinguished feature of the project is for the first time, PSLV with four strap-on configuration has been identified for this mission.Till now, PSLV has been in either two or six strap-on configuration or without any strap-ons. Third uniqueness in this mission as it is the first PSLV fourth stage (PS4) that uses solar panels to support payloads hosted on it.

- b) Altitude: 780 kilometres (485 mi) The PSLV C 45 rocket had four stages; each one was self-contained, with its own propulsion system, thereby capable of functioning independently. The first and third stages used composite solid propellants, while the second stage used earth-storable liquid propellant and fourth one fitted with Solar Panels.
Purpose: The PS4 orbital platform is envisaged to provide a microgravity environment for research organisations and academic institutes to perform experiments. In this mission, the PS4 hosts three payloads, namely, Automatic Identification System (AIS) from ISRO, Automatic Packet Reporting System (APRS) from AMSAT (Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation), India and Advanced Retarding Potential Analyzer for Ionospheric Studies (ARIS) from Indian Institute of Space Science and technology (IIST).
Launch venue : India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), in its 47th mission (PSLV-C45), will launch EMISAT, the primary satellite and 28 international customer satellites from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota. The launch is tentatively scheduled at 0930 Hrs on April 01, 2019, subject to weather conditions.
